A Woman can do Everything & Anything but…

Be & Stay Empowered!

A woman can do everything and anything, so they say.

A woman is good in multitasking, so they say.

A woman is looking after her family, spouse, children, neighbors, friends and more never asking for herself or if it is right, necessary or even ok, so they say.

If a woman is taking care of herself and respecting herself as she is respecting others, she is often called selfish, self-centered, a bitch, so they say.

Women in our Society

I like to provoke with these statements and I am doing it for a reason.

The other day I have read an article online (sadly I didn’t save it as I usually do ) and was shocked to read about the fact that female nurses in the U.S. when taking a leave for any reason, they will lose their previous salary and have to start at a lower point again.

In other words, they won’t be paid the same amount they had earned before. Makes them almost a beginner again.

Salary Gap between Men & Women

Here is another good read from REUTERS about the salary gap between male and female nurses. Although this article reports more the data, like how high is the salary difference or how big is the gap in general, but not the real reason for it.

Although this article reports more the data, like how high is the salary difference or how big is the gap in general, but not the real reason.

It seems to me with no doubt in my mind, that we women are being punished for just being women. It will be through us, that the human race is secured.

Yeah, yeah, the man is important too, I agree. But seriously, there must be already enough sperm in all the sperm banks on this planet to do the job just fine. 🙂

Women, on the other hand, are still being needed to carry the embryo in their womb’s and give birth to the new earthling. So why is it that women are being treated (and not just in 3rd countries) as second class citizens? At least it looks that way, doesn’t it?

Are women not good for the Economy?

Over the years I have read and seen on TV lots of documentary about similar subjects, and many economists just taking the fact why women are being paid lower than their male counterparts, even though they have the same education and credentials.

The issue, that women giving birth and therefore being out of the workforce for some time.

This can’t be tolerated by companies because it would be economically unfair to those who are unable to do the same.

Well, I am sorry but I won’t cry, a laugh instead seems more appropriate to me. I know this is a subject we could discuss the way too long and I also do know that they are different sites to any coin.

The fact, however, says that a woman’s natural state of being is brought up against her just to save money, or let me say it that way, to make more profit.

If a woman was a good employee many years before and she stayed at home for a couple of years, for any reason, and then comes back again, why should she have a lower salary?

Where is the respect or the appreciation why she stayed at home in the first place? Two aspects everyone else has to answer it for themselves.

Nevertheless, there is a solution. Stay at home and start your own business. If you have a passion about something, also called a niche, and create a website with that niche, having a platform where your website and domain are being hosted and joining an affiliate program, you can earn money in no time.

The beauty of staying at home is

  • You will set the working hours, when, how long etc.
  • You have more time for your children and loved ones
  • You can attend to your other duties more easily
  • You can make time for your other interests
  • You will have a better mood (at least I do 🙂 )

This Affiliate program is awesome, honest and most of all NOT A SCAM, read my personal review about Wealthy Affiliate.

  1. Thank you very much for this Sylvia and I have to say that I totally agree with what you are saying here. I think that is terrible that a woman who has probably worked all her life till she decides to have a family so therefore takes a break from work for a period of time and when she decides to return to work she is treated like she is a totally new member of staff and has to start at the bottom. If you ask me, that is like a kick in the teeth to women.

I think in this day and age that both women and men should be paid and treated as equals. The days of men being superior to women are long gone.

I will go now before I rattle on too much.

  2. Women can do anything and everything, well nearly everything that a man can do lol. I completely agree with your article. And I find that it is a wonder that women who stay at home do not have the monopoly on this kind of business. Surely it is not because they are so “Busy” or is it?

    1. Thanks, Simon for leaving acomenton this topic.
Women are more than busy but to do work from home isn’t, of course, not a monopoly, men too can and should have their share working at and from home. 😀

  3. Hi Sylvia,

I work as a recruiter for the past decade and I know what you said is true in many cases. It is an unfair practice and unfortunately, there is no easy way around it for now except to work for organisations that have an embracing culture towards women and childbirth. In time to come, I hope there will be a better balance.

Your suggestion to work from home starting an online business is GREAT! This is what I encouraged my wife to do and recently we had our firstborn, so I think it is more motivating to start something on our own rather than to return to the corporate grind and be unfairly treated.

  4. What a problem solver you are, recognising that there is an issue and addressing it by beginning your own business is a fantastic approach, and it really shows that you can do what you want. I am sure that this is a skill held by many and is something that should be encouraged.

Your post got my attention from the start and I was captivated right through to the end.

Good luck to those who follow your advice and begin their own home business.

  5. Hello there. Great post. I could not stop reading your post for it is very very true in so many ways. I have seen this practice with my own eyes throughout my working life.

I am also glad that you realize that the fairest way you can do about this situation is to run your own business from home so you can be your own boss and set all the agendas.

That is kinda what I am doing myself. I want to run my own business so i can control everything and fire those who I think that have treated me unfairly from my life.

All the best to you and your business.

    1. Thanks for your comment and your personal insight on this topic. I certainly do appreciate when a man can see the issue beyond the “normal” perimeter when it comes to women, working and equality, appreciated.

  6. Hi Sylvia, having seen my wife gave birth to our son I certainly agree a woman can do EVERYTHING, and ANYTHING, AND MORE! And yes, as a whole, they are getting a raw deal in compensation for the same jobs that men do.

In work, I tend to believe that men and women are equally capable, but women are more accurate in their work and have more empathy. It’s unfortunate they’re paid less.

That’s why my wife is freelancing as a Extendbarre instructor and my daughter just quit her job as an assistant teacher and freelancing as a Ballet teacher. So, they’re their own boss! And daughter is trying blogging to earn a little side income from the net.

  7. wow, Sylvia! Great article, I am impressed! I totally agree with the whole article. Some men are only sperm donor! My daughter has a 3 years old child and the dad is no longer in the picture since the baby was 2 months so I consider him as a sperm donor! WE can do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING!
